COMAND Update CD for 2004 S500
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased the most current navigation DVD (2008 Version 7.0, Part # BQ6460232) for my 2004 S500 and, as mentioned by several others on this board, my COMAND unit does not recognize this DVD as I am upgrading from the original navigation DVD (2004.1) and did not perform intermediate updates.
My dealer has been giving me the runaround for weeks now, first telling me that I purchased the wrong navigation DVD, to telling me that no COMAND updates are available, to finally telling me that they knew about the required COMAND updates in the first place. Not sure why they have been so difficult, but I'm not happy about it. Now my car is out of warranty (just went over 50,000 miles) and they want to charge $150 for the update.
Therefore, does anyone have the MB part number for the COMAND update CD for a 2004 S500? I thought I read that this CD is only about $12.00. Also, is this update something that I can do myself? My dealer is telling me that I cannot perform this update myself as they need to hook the car up to their computer to finalize the update, but I thought I read otherwise.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

BUT as I stated before, ANY ( at least the E class ) DVD for 2007 will work on your car and it will update your system as soon as it boots.
I have been using mine for around a year now with no issues and my car is a 2004..
I don't think there are any 2008 DVD's out for the W220 since the body style change..
I'm not surprised the dealer is telling you a million different things because Some of these small technical items they actually have no clue about.

my06clk, thanks for the information. My new navigation DVD is the one in kenstudios' link. It is a 2008 (Version 7.0) navigation DVD for "MY04-MY06 S-Class & CL-Class, MY04-MY08 E-Class, MY05-MY08 SLK-Class & SL-Class, and MY06-MY08 CLS-Class".
This is the most current navigation DVD for a 2004 S500, but it looks like I'll have to visit the dealer to make it work.
Thanks!

The newest and final update for the 2004 through 2006 Comand systems is V15.0, part #T1000-23902. It is available directly from Navigation.com. It will work in all the NTG-1 systems. If it will not load then that particular Comand head unit has outdated firmware, The dealer can easily update the firmware if necessary.
I personally used this disc in my 2005 SL600 and 2006 S65.

Just for clarity - the earlier Comand units can not read a DVD - all software must be on CD's. There are two levels of CDs, and the correct one must be used.

hi, I have a 2006 s500 w220 and when i bought it the radio was not working. i started to investigate and opened up the trunk. after i pealed the carpet on the side i noticed that i seem to be missing some parts. the navigation is there as well as the cd changer, but that's it. I looked on some forums and i realized that I might be missing an antenna module. i do have some "extra" cables that seem like they should be plugged into something, but whatever it is, it's not there. it looks like there should be something mounted near the wheel well. does anyone have a clue and can help?
