Check you CPS (crankshaft Position sensor). It is DIY item. Use search "CPS" and will find tons of information.

Go witht he obvious first. WHen was the last time the fuel filter was changed? how is the fuel pump? wit a bad CPS ur car will not run at all OR give a C/e light. Low fuel pressure will also but only in certain conditions.

90% of the time, a bad CPS is temperature-sensitive. Car stalls when hot, won't start until it cools. Concensus on the other thread OP started is that it's classic CPS symptoms.

Well this may be the case and I can see your point. BUt I think I understood that he had this issue at first start..

My car started doing the same thing, then it got more and more frequent. I pulled the fuel filter and I have never had the problem again. That's why I said go with the obvious.

While 90% of the time the CPS may be the culprit, you will find that the Cps because it is linked to the emission system will also set a code 90% of the time.

Hopefully he'll get to the shop an enlighten us all..

THe keyword is "Sensor" meaning something is reading it and acting ont the information the it is sending. This would be your ECU.

Since there is only one CEL which is yellow there are no critical or non critical status bit sent from the ECU.

When the CEL began to appear on cars in the 80's it was tied exclusively to the emissions system. As engine management evolved over the years, this same output has been used to identify engine management isuues as they indrectly relate to the emission system. THe CPS is one of those components.
Indication of a failure is conditional, hence the 90% instead of 100.

BTW manufacturers have been prohibited to have a red CEL because this means a critical problem exists and the car should be stopped.

Brake, Alternator, Temp, are considered critical faults therefore they are red.

I guess lack of forward thinking on the part of the Auto industry is the blame for the bundling of all of these items that trigger a yellow light.

I believe some of them should actually be red and I am sure they would love to but its too late now...

wat up guys

gondon is not really tryin to **** you guys off but remember tha's the first year they brought out the W220 so that was like the testing year u kno? things have been updated and upgraded in the new models but yea, they are still good cars, thats the reason i went for a 97 C36 instead of a 95 mostly because it was the last year and they have already takin care of most of the recalls u know? like the hiring harness those had
