Window (Halls generator) problem AND down by the stern

Greetings fellow S-heads,

I am currently being annoyed by two things, which I hope you guys might be able to help with.

1. The driver's side window will not keep a preset after the car is turned off and sits for a few hours. Everytime I start it now, I can express the window down fine, but on the upward express it will stop 3 inches from the frame. When I reset the generator by running to the top and holding for a few seconds it expresses fine. Any ideas why it's forgetting after sitting?

2. I think the car is sitting a little low on the rear passenger side. I need to measure to make sure; so, it's not dramatic but I'm thinking this is a sign of bad things to come. Anyone have any experience with right rear dropping slowly on them?

3. BONUS QUESTION - Anyone know a good MB mechanic in the Houston area? I don't relish paying dealer prices on the things I can't do myself.

Best regards,

Magnified

Sunil @ Motorwerks is a great choice, 59+ Chimney Rock. Top notch knowledge & service - his brand new showroom is also cool to check out all the 55's, 65's, Ferraris etc that are being sold or worked on.
He did some great work on my 600 + 55 and would recommend him to anyone.

There is nothing wrong with your window controls. Very common problem and especially with the pre 03 models. The window's pinch protection kicks in because the window sits too tight. To test it, try that after a car wash. It rolls up all the way because the water acts as lube.

Not sure what the fix would be but my 2000 S 500 had that problem until when I sold it.

On a previous car (W140) the dealer adjusted and lubed the rails. Haven't had it happen on either of the W220s I've owned.

I have the same problem with the right rear looking like it's lower after sitting a day or so. I did measure and it sits about 1/2" lower than the driver side. When I start it it pumps up the right side a little.

This is likely either a valve problem or a leak. If it's a leak you need to fix it quickly because your pump will be working overtime and will soon burn out. The repair cost will go up significantly.
