I have a 2003 S500 and I need to play MP3's, I am willing to play them with an MP3 player or off of cd's either way works for me, I will probably opt for the cheapest solution. Anyone successfully do this? What did you do? Where did you buy the hardware? And how hard is it to install? Thanks.

Its in the glove box on the left hand side.. There should be a jack there for the Aux input..

2004 don't come with the jack. We do have a DVD drive which when done right can play about 4 gigs of music. Also dension makes a kit for our car to intergrate an Ipod or usb drive.

What years came with the jack? My '99 S430 doesnt have it, i have had to resort to either using an FM transmitter or a tape adapter for the time being.

I see this little black cap on the left in the glove box... I popped it off and it looked like a hole where the aux-in wire would plug into so that's why I asked for the part number.

This is based on information that Contributor My04230k gave on W220 Aux jacks:

2000-2002 No Aux input. D2B fiber optics.

2003 has Aux input (unknown if MB iPod kit can be used). D2B fiber optics.

2004-2006 No AUX input, but has DVD audio. MOST fiber optics.

Of course, the MB iPod kit requires Aux capability. The best alternative for quality sound is the Gateway 500. See https://mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=194660; and be sure you read the differences between the MOST and the D2B versions. Also be sure to get the version that is compatible with your car's fiber optics bus.
