2001 S500 with 07 tail lights
Hey Guys,
Haven't posted on the forums for like 2 years and haven't done anything to my car for over 3 years! I recently caved in and bought the 07 tail lights. I am quite surprised that they are of very high quality and most importantly, no burnt out errors! The LED lights are very bright. Only thing that I am worried about is the quality of the LEDs used which means it will totally suck if one burns out or goes bad. The other thing is the quality of the plastic they are using and if the clear part will resist yellowing over time. I guess only time will tell. Other than that the lights are great. Probablyl the second to last thing I will do for my car. The last item will be HID fog conversion for the Lorinser fog lights (one of the bulbs is burnt out and is a pain to replace). Oh yeah, I have LED license plate bulbs which goes perfectly with the all-LED rear.

Thanks. Oh serious? Can you get me on that gtg list. I live in San Jose which is not too far from Salinas. I'll get some pics of the LEDs. Which LEDs are you referring to? The License plate ones?

Yeah, I saw the black version and was skeptical. But yeah, that's what I concluded when I bought them. I actually spent a whole year thinking about whether it would go well with the Lorinser kit and the silver. I don't think it will go well with an AMG kit since it would seem too 'out there.' It will probably go better with any other non-factory body kits (brabus, Wald, etc.) because it gives it a more 'complete' aftermarket look.

Thanks for the great comments guys. The 07 tail lights won't add any monetary value but it does add hella intrinsic value. Dude, I have 46k on my 2001 and hella baby it. I don't even want to know how much it's worth considering how much I put into it. Oh well, I never intended to sell it since it is my first Benz. Not putting any more money into it besides the $225 HID fog upgrade. Got the tail lights for $205 shipped but even then I was still debating. Mercedes needs to think about their current owners and extend the life cycle of their models. The previous S class lasted close to 10 years. The W220 a measly 7. Very sad.

I was one of the lucky ones who waited long enough for them to make a version with silver stripes. I believe they come in three colors - Silver, Black and White. If anyone wants a set, PM me and I'll give you the contact info for the guy who ordered it for me.

Hey Bryan,
I am in LA this weekend and will be back by 4pm on Sunday. I can meet later that evening or we can schedule something. Ditto to #1408Dad if you want to meet up. Whereabouts in 408 do you live? I am in Evergreen. You should take a look at the LED lights in person when it is dark. It's pretty dark bright and looks better on light colored cars. I have an extra set you can try out for yourself. What color is your car?
My lights are OEM Bi-Xenons and the self leveling is correctly wired. I have a set of the grounding connectors still left. They are necessary for the lights to operate correctly and plug into the 3rd connector. Make sure that when you buy the headlights that there are 3 sets of connectors for each side otherwise, you will be missing the leveling connector. Even some OEM bi-Xenons have only 2 connectors (for reasons that are unknown to me). I bought a set and luckily the dealer was cool enough to let me return it and ordered me another version with the 3 connectors. I have the color to pin diagram (i.e. red to pin 1, orange to pin 2, etc.) for the self-leveling wires. Let me know if you need a picture of my wiring.
Thanks for the comments, dudes.
