Post help

hey all,
thinking about picking up my buddies 18's tomorrow and putting them on my 04 S430 4matic...the thing is...i have heard stories about the air matic getting all messed up due to larger wheels. according to one site, the only way for the air matic to be adjusted or reset is with a Star Diagnostic System (SDS). i have also heard that nothing shall happen to my S and that i wont even have to worry about the air matic adjusting. Anyone have larger wheels on their S? All help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
4matic.

You should not have any problems as long as all wheel/tire combinations have exactly the same revolutions per mile. This is usually accomplished by using the same sized wheels and tires all around - not a staggered setup with larger rear wheels!

It is possible to use larger rear wheels, but the tire sizes must be such that the revolutions per mile are the same as the front - this would mean the sidewalls on the front tires would be higher than those on the rear - a rather odd look.

Don't forget to reset your COMAND (nav system) for any new tire sizes. That's the only "adjustment" I know of.

just go into the Nav cabliaration and set the tire size, pretty easy and straight forward it also shows you in the manual.
