2001 S500 amg CLEAR HEADLIGHTS HELP
HI everyone this is my first post on this forum and maybe you guys can help me.
I just bought an 01 s500 and i wanted to upgrade the headlights to make it look more like an 03, problem is on ebay all the aftermarket clear lenses that i have seen have a disclaimer that reades like this; Standard halogen light bulbs included (this headlights will not fit on vehicles with factory xenon H.I.D. system). I believe my 01 has standard on it xenons? what can i do to upgrade these ugly opaque headlights?

You can sand them and polish them, I had it done on mine. Doesn't look as nice as the newer style but I personally don't see the need in upgrading them to look like a later model. I have an '01 with xenon as well. If the housings start to fade again I will look at purchasing oem replacements. Personally would avoid aftermarket housings.

Hey Chriscobal, where did you go to do that, and to properly clean off all the yellow nastiness, do you have to take the Headlights off to polish them from the inside too? I tried doing just the outside on the Opaque's, and although it helped a bit, it looks like I need to really get in there to get it back to new like appearance.
Also, how do I know if my Car has Xenon's on it? If it doesn't, does that mean if I buy the 03+ Headlights, it's just a simple plug and play, or is there still some technical modifications that need to be made?

Had it done in FL, a friend's brother owns a used car dealership and had a guy he uses regularly. Maybe the car was garaged but I don't recall there being any yellowing, more cloudy. He didn't open the housings so the insides weren't touched. It's not as clear as the later model style housings but it's original.
Not sure how to tell definitively you have xenon's. I have the self leveling ones so you can see the beam move when you first turn the lights on. Also, the color of the beam is a bluish/purplish. There's a lot of posts about fitting the newer housings, just do a search for a how to. Good luck
