Sprint booster for 2003+ S600?
Has anyone put the sprintbooster on their (2003+) S600? I am having difficulty determining if it is available for our cars.
The sb distributor (on ebay site) says it fits all mercedes - however other threads here have said that it does not work with the S600.
There is also an AMG version, which makes me think that there may need to be a separate application for the V12TT.
Thanks for any clarifications!

Since the AMG version works would supposedly work with normally-aspirated V8s, supercharged V6s and V8s and twin-turbo V12s, I wouldn't expect it would be needed for a 600.
But unless the throttle response of a 600 is very different than a 65, the last thing I'd want to do is make it more aggressive. After driving my S65 for 25,000 miles I still occasionally leap away from a red light when I don't mean to, especially if I've recently been driving another car -- even my wife's C55. I would imagine that making the throttle curve more linear on my car would make it undriveable.
There are "real" dealers mentioned in other threads who will take the unit back if it doesn't work or even if you decide you don't like it. If I were you, I'd spend a few more bucks and use one of them. Actually, if I were you I'd never consider messing with the throttle calibration of a twin-turbo V12, but you know what I mean.

06 CLS 55........ 06S 65.........08 328 hardtop conv.
I put one on my 2006 S65 last week after reading about the thing at MB world, needless to say I was quite impressed with the outcome. The only problem I have with it is the fact that the traction control triangle shows up a lot more now, the thing will smoke the tires at a 1/4 throttle.............. Sprint Booster rules!

Works fine on the 600. Very responsive down low, and I notice she kicks down for passing a lot quicker. $300 bucks is too much for what it does. My 2 cents!!

Its basically like the sport button on the M3, it just opens the throttle blade more at the same pedal position.
pretty gimmicky if you ask me.

I bought mine on eBay. http://stores.ebay.com/Parts-Exporter-Store . Andy Wong was the only guy that answered all my questions. It's part # Sprint Booster BDD451A2 Mercedes Benz AMG Auto trans for the 600, even though it's not an AMG

I am thinking of getting one. Do you have a good source, preferably one that will let you return it if not happy (in case it is just TOO sensitive). Thanks Aaron

Update - Installed it today!
To all who PM-ed me about the sprintbooster - I finally purchased it last week and got it installed today.
I did tons of research on the boards on this product, including the "white paper" and the long, long threads on what the product actually does.
Install took about 5-10 min.
Before the flaming starts: I *know* it does not make the car any faster, no change in 0-60, no trq increase.
However - Throttle response is improved NIGHT and DAY! The car now feels like my E55 off the line. The original 600 has the 'granny' very sluggish accelerator pedal where you have to stomp it to get any movement. Now the car just moves forward strongly, nothing jerky or out of control, feels like an AMG. No more lag or 'adaptive' pedal movement.
Very impressive, I was amazed at how much throttle response has to do with the 'feel' of the car's speed.

I'd like to point out that its not the throttle response thats improved.
All you've done is shorten effective pedal travel. You get the same thing by simply pushing the pedal harder.

i agree. But, "the exact same thing" does not feel the same....if you have 2 cars, one you have to push the pedal really hard to go, one it goes with an easy press of the accelerator...which one feels faster? You get my point. With the SB setup the pedal travel, whatever you want to call it, is much more similar to the amg setup.

2005 S600 Designo Edition
Sprint Booster on S600 Biturbo
Installed the Sprint Booster on my 2005 S600. Big different in throttle response. Feels like a S65 now! Paid just under $300 from BMP Motorsports. The only negative is it doesn't come with any instructions whatsoever. Didn't get any help from the manufacturer or retailer. I finally had to figure it out myself.
Some say the connection is located in the engine compartment, this is not correct. The connection is at the pedal. (1) Remove the one bolt holding down the pedal, (2) put out the wire/connection, (3) Install the Sprint Booster inline). Takes about 5 minutes.
Like the feel overall, but $300 is a bit much. They'll sell more if they price it around $100.

Spaboy, I felt the same way...glad u liked it, I think it is a worthwhile mod. Probably a bit overpriced but certainly makes the car more fun to drive. Since the 600's biggest problem is not its speed but its feel - this is a step in the right direction.
