I have recently acquired a 2000 S430. I am a hotrod enthusiast, so I have tools to do most jobs myself.

What I would like to know is:
1) Where can I get a good manual for 2000 S430?
2) What special tools for MB should I get, STAR sockets??
3) How do you remove a headlight washer, after unbolting it from support?
I think it pulls down towards ground, but need to know how to get the
nozzles off, so it can come down, without breaking anything.

Any help is greatly appreciated and sharing your expertise with others is awesome!!!

"star service library" DVD

there approx $90 and the dvd has all the info you need to maintain your MB.if you are going to wrench on these cars as alot of us do in my opinion you cant do it without the dvd.just trying to locate a relay, fuse, electrical component or circuit on these cars can be a real challenge.even that headlight hardware question will be answered.call a dealer and if they dont stock it get one ordered.all metric tools, allen wrenches star sockets and drivers, metric sockets from 4mm to 32 mm,same for wrenches.oil filter cap adapter,a decent volt/ohm meter with digital display.most of the mechanical repair/maintanance can be done by you,but you will have to learn when to throw in the towel on electronic troubleshooting.the MB dealers are exceptionally good at it and have the necessary diagnostic tools to do it accurately.be prepared for $250 minimum diagnosis plus parts, thats about 2.3 hours on a techs clock.i hope you end up loving your new car.

Thanks for info

Thanks AH1 - will inquire about getting one of the STAR DVD's .... I think I have the tools covered, with exception of oil filter wrench, but I have several so I am sure I can get one to work on the MB.

Where the heck are my DVD "copying" buddies when I need them

I need to meet someone locally that has same type car as me, so I can ensure my NAV cds are good, my cd changer cartridge works ok in another unit, so I can get that stuff out of my head!

I think we have the same COMAND/NAV. I also think the latest release date from Navteq/Bosch is 01/07 and there should be another one soon. I have several, most of which I found on eBay for around $30.00. Congrats on the car.
