I need a new cat.
I have a 2000 S430 with over 100k miles.
I live in the state of CA which have smog checks, which I have to go to soon.
My cat needs to be replaced otherwise I will fail the smog test.
What are my options???

Possible options that I think are:
1. Bring to dealer and argue with them...??? Their warranty is 8 years and 80k or less for a free cat. I heard someone on the forum got a letter from MB USA saying they have a 10 year unlimited mile warranty on the cat.
I went to MB dealer and they said no way they can do it.. and I tried a little bit of my finesse to get it going, but it didnt work.

2. Buy aftermarket cat (high flow cats) and have it replaced at good muffler shop.

3. Just go to muffler shop and tell them to patch it up..?

4. Any other options I have?

YOu should just get a pair of new cats.. YOU need 2 by the way not just one. Unless you just want to replace one side..
oemparts direct used to sell them..
