Tail light lens update
Anyone have any experiance with changing out the tail light lens from a 2001 W-220 to a 2004-2006 version? Wondering if it's a direct swap, or a new base is needed? Any suggestions for a reasonable / good quality source?

The topic has been written up quite a bit; you can definitely do the change, but very slight modification may be required depending on whether you buy original equipment or aftermarket tail lights.

Its a direct swap, If my memory serves me correctly there are 4 nuts to take off. Pull back the carpet and you will see the 3 bolts. The trick is getting to the 4 the one in the back. It is located on the rear quarter panel, if you look on the side of the car, its where the end of the lights comes to a point, u have to put a little pressure on the carpet and pull back hard to get to it. and please don't drop the nut.......u will have an interesting day if you do. After u get that last one the light will fall out so use care.
