I had a similar problem with mine, but the problem was very intermittent. They ended up replacing the control unit and one of the lines. I was covered by warranty, but was told the cost would have been nearly $10,000 since they had to lift the engine and do quite a few other things to get the repair made. The $1200 seems like a relative bargain.

Quote: The pump is belt driven by the engine. You should hear a clunking sound if it's failing. I don't think you could hear it inside.
If you attempt to diagnose the pump in this audible manner, make sure the thumping you hear is not the belt tensioner. It seems that the tensioners MB is using only last 4 years or so, maybe 50,000 miles before they start to make a clacking sound when cold.

control arm and subframe diagram for cl-500
Quote: See attachments.

The visual makes all the difference! It's kind humbling too when you see the complexity of this system. A true engineering marvel.
I am curious anyone has diagram for front control arm and subframe?

My 2001 CL-500 had ABC failure shown in the LCD screen, I took it to the dealer and they told me following items need to be fixed:

1. Both Front Control arms need to be removed and new bushings need to be replaced.
2. Transmission support/mount need to replaced.
3. Two engine supports/mounts need to replaced.
4. Accumulator (suspension) need to be replaced.
5. Rear Main Seal (oil leak at rear of Engine)
6. Subframe been damaged need to replace a new one.

Any comments would be appreciated!

does your cars active body not work at all or does it work like mine when you turn the car off then back on again?
I was told my ABC system needed the Front Axle Control Valve Unit which is located near the front drivers side head light more under the vehicle since you cannot just look into the engine area and see it.

I have a question about my 2000 s430 I have a clicking sound in the left rear side of the trunk it does when the car is running and it does when your driving it sounds like something is turning on and off inside the trunk too me, I placed my hand up against the body and I can feel and hear the sound of whatever it is clicking, I checked my radio amp and CD changer and they are fine ( do anybody out there know what this is?????)

It has nothing to do with the Active Body Control system.
