saw write-up for 02 s430 brakes. need info on rear brakes for 03 s430,
what size socket is needed to remove bolts (looks like an allen key) holding calipers, cannot tell. went by an indepenent mb shop and he said you need to disengage computer or something like that to do brakes. he said 2003 was the first year for this. got me worried a little bit.
have always done brakes on my other cars, this is the first time for the
03 s430.
thanks for any info

Your indy shop is incorrect. There is nothing to disengage on the S in any year. I would just do the obvious and make sure the key is out and you don't open any doors while the calipers are off just to be sure that's all.Originally Posted by fdwat03

The bolts are T40 not allen and your local parts shop sells this on a 3/8"socket.

The mechanic may have been thinking of SBC. See a writeup at posts 15 and 16 here: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...01-s500-2.html - it should not be a factor for a W220.
