How to tell if car was tuned

My question..

Is there a way to tell if my car is tuned other than putting a boost gauge on it or time slips?

After votting today on the way back to the office I was messing with my buddy and his '03 S55, we went 1 time from a dig to 100mph and 2x from 40 to 110mph.

From a dig to 100 I took him by 5 cars and both times from 40 to 110 he pulled a full car till around 70 then I passed and put about 4-5 cars on him.

He is not tuned but has time slips from ATCO @ 12.45 et I think he said the mph was 114 mph.

I won't be getting a slip on my car till MIR so I guess I will know for sure then but is there another way I can tell if it has a tune already or are 03 S600's just faster than 03 S55's?

What is strange is that when I drive his car it feels faster than mine but on the street my car is faster.

When we program ECU's, we look at the file that is already in the computer and can tell if it is MB/AMG original work.

Thanks for the reply Dino, I will decide what I am going to do after MIR and get a chance to talk to some of you guys and see how the cars run.

Right now it's between you and MHP if I decide to tune but I want to get a time slip on my car as it is now then make a decision.

Thanks for the advice man, but i think both Dino and Andy know what they are doing. I have spoke with both of them on the phone and both seemed like great guys and very knowlagable.

Also if I am not mistaken if I don't let either tuner put my acual car on a dyno and do the tune would they both not be considered off the shelf tunes?

Well the S600 has 100 more TQ that would explain the pull.

S600's are faster than the S55.

When you drove his S55 it felt faster because it has different suspension brakes and everything, even seats.

Haha NICK!!

His interior is the designo leather, it looks really sweet, I will snag some pics of it. I like it alot better than my graphite.

It also has the executive option, I am not sure what that gives ya.

I guess we will see @ MIR on the 15th, he should be as fast or faster than he was before.

Personally if I go 12.3 or under I am not going to do anything to my car just leave it the way it is.

I'd get a tune. You gain 100 hp and 100+ TQ big difference haha.

Look at E55 forums MarkoCL65 3 cheap mods and he got 10.7 at 129 lol.

Your car is the one I am most interested in seeing @ MIR..I have followed it's progression since you got it and think it's a bad *** ride.

If you don't mind I will be using your car as an example of what I want mine to be.

Thanks for saying I am a nice guy...... we try!

We don't do off the shelf set ups. We develop our own work, using either my own cars or friends. I do the development driving to finalize the characteristics.

Some cars are harder than others, and come to us in various stages of tune and/or disrepair, and we have to build the tuning for them individually.

2005 S600 (Silver w/ AMG package)
Can I check to see if mine has been tuned by the previous owner here before sending anything away? This car fels a good deal faster than the 2003 S600 my Mom and Dad have. I floored it the other day and literally popped a wheeley... Ok, not literally, but almost. The old owner is a Dr. so I figure he may have already done that. I have no way to reach him though.

Pay $100 and get the car on a dyno... double benifit - if it's tuned you find out the numbers you're making.. if it's not tuned you find out the baseline and continue modding from there!
