Did anyone had this problem of not having the seats heating on the bottom part? just my back rest seams to get hot my but cold all the time. every other seats are working fine since i have heated seats in the back seats too. could it be a fuse or something? SAME THING IS HAPPENING WITH MY SL500

How much did the dealer charge you? I have the same issue with just the bottom not working.

It was fixed under warranty on my car. As I told Maxim, I believe it would run about $700 to $800 to replace.

Is that worth it if I have to pay out of pocket?

thats something only you can answer.

I love the heated seats, so I would have done it out of pocket.

For whatever it is worth, I have exactly the same problem. All seats work and also my back; but not the bottom heater. It seems to be a problem with a ruptured wire or bad contact. Surely this is easy to fix.

Can I fix it myself?

A Mercedes obviously!
I had this on my W210 and W220. IIRC it was around $700 for the part on the E Class through independent mechanic. I was planning to sell the car anyway so didn't bother fixing it. On the W220 it was covered by CPO

Mine does the same thing. Back is hot, butt is cold. Glad summer is coming. Might dig into it one of these days and see if it's something simple.

Heating elements are low tech so we can all save $700+ if someone knows how to remove the heating element. To start with, does anyone know how to remove a seat (to turn it upside down)? As both front seats look the same in my car can I swap them?

Taking the seat out won't be tough. Don't turn the key on with the seat out or you will set off the air bag warning.
Once out the back and bottom should come apart pretty easy.
My thought from there was to take a multi tester to each part of the seat and see where the power is going or not going.
I'm betting on a broken wire where the element is connected, and probably due to the seat moving.
You are correct that the heating element is pretty simple. I've added heating elements to a couple cars and a motorcycle and it was easy. Just need to find the time
