S500 Auction Prices ..

Anyoine have any idea what 01' S500's are going for at auctions? I know everything is tanking, but I was offered $7-9k trade in for mine and it feels low, wanted to see if I'm crazy or if this is as good as it will get .. 01' S500, 125k miles, sport package .. blah blah ..

Thanks in advance, have an 03' S55 in my sites!!!!

Auction prices are determined by the area to be honest. And trade in is not what is paid for at the auction. I learned a lot before I became a dealer...Sell it outright and you'll make more money at least 2 or 3k more.

Ditto to THR2008. Also, in my limited experience, MB dealers place a higher/lower value on the trade-in based more on the mileage than the options and overall condition. We are almost always better off selling a used car to a private party. As an aside, if you have the maintenance history, that's worth a few $thousand to an individual, but is virtually worthless to a dealer. Chances are they will never even put it on their lot, but send it to auction as is.

I def. know the auction is just one factor, but being in the car bus. myself for a few years that's the number I don't have access to anymore that helps to fill out the picture.

Thanks for the feedback all, gotta love all the great info from those on this site!
