Best Brake Kit for 18" wheels

Does anyone know of any brake kit that is better than stock that fits on 18" wheels? I was going to go with the S65 AMG brake kit but decided that there are too many pot holes in Chicago and riding on 18s is better than having to change wheels every 20-30k miles with 19s or 20s.

get the s55 calipers which are the exact same part as s65. Get the s55k rotors and the s55amg 18"rims and case solved. if my install doesnt work on my s500 4matic i can sell you my entire kit.

i have brand new 8piston calipers and 4piston rears with brand new zimmermann front and rear rotors long with EBC redstuff ceramic pads for front and rear along with all pins and clips etc.

Dude - why are you posting false information?

The S55 calipers are NOT the same as the S65 calipers... sure they may look the same but trust me they are not the same. Can't use the S65 calipers with the S55 rotors and vice versa.

You should mention that it's not as simple as a "brake kit" as you found out yourself... there are other components involved like the AMG spindles. You can't just "bolt up" those AMG calipers to a non-AMG car.

my dealer was telling me that most people go with the S55 kit (although at the time I was dead set on the S65). I thought both of them required a 19" wheel. He also said the S55 kit is much cheaper (although it sounds about the same to me... maybe $1000 difference ?)

Yeah... what hikes up the S65 brake setup price up is the fact that the rotors are about $800/each....

I had one of those brembo GT kits on of my older bmw's and rotors were $1000+... I had the rotors and brakes cyrogenically frozen to increase life ($250) - I think it may have actually worked. I put 70k miles on them and my dealer claimed there was half life yet. I ended up selling the car with them on there so I don't know how far I could have gotten them to go.

oxygen this is what one of the techs at Soverign told me and also what AI design in westchester told me regarding the calipers only.

I got my calipers powdercoated yellow to go with my blacked out look.

Hopefully lets see if you and bruce can work some magic to get these on

Well then they are both idiots... I don't know who AI Design is but these "tuners" should make sure that they actually know what they are talking about, before giving you information that can end up costing you money in the end.

What kind of a rear brakes do you have? The 65 or the 55? Also, where did you get this "kit" from? Used? New?
