no sound from command system

the battery died a couple weeks ago in my car,
now no sound comes from the radio/navigation, the system turns on and i everything seems to work find except no sounds comes out, also when i switch to CD it says "cd changer not detected" or something like that.

i checked all the fuses under the hood and under the rear seat, specificly fuse 61 and 66 which are stated as the ones for the radio and CD changer, but all fuses are fine, so now im kind of lost and looking for some help

WHAT YEAR AND MODEL DO YOU HAVE. MY 2004 S600 HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE BOSE AMP WHICH I COULD NOT GET REPAIRED BUT HAD TO REPLACE AT $1600 PLUS.

wow 1600+

sorry i forgot to put the year and model, the car is a 2000 s430.

is there a way to test the amp? also do you know where its located?

im wondering if its possible to put a different kind of amp if it is the one that causing the problem, cause honestly i just spent ~$550 to replace the front left strut (got a rebuilt one from ebay) and i dont have too much money to spend.

Check the amp itself for any accessible internal fuses (see the phone bulletin for your car at http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsite/comand_manual.htm - for the amp location; use the '01 bulletin). Also check that the fiber optic leads (orange "wires") for the amp are firmly seated. Also check the fiber optic leads for the CDC.

A Google search will get you a number of places that claim they can fix Bose amps for the Benz.

thanks for the help

i checked the fuse on the amp and its fine, i still havent checked the amp wires yet, i read somewhere that since its a fiber optic system if one part goes bad the whole sound network wont work. so since its displaying "no cd changer" i thought i test that first.
the guy with the post also said that there is some king of a couple that i can use for the fiber optic cables that will let the system work without the cd changer so ill probebly try that and see

I had the same problem with my 05 S430. The dealer installed some updates in the command and it is fine now. My car has the Sirus radio and cellphone and there were updates required. It was updated about a year ago and its still fine.

I had a similar problem with my S500. The problem was ultimately traced to a
faulty CD player. Once it was physically removed from the fiber optic loop
the sound returned. The error message seems to point to the CD player.
I would have a specialist check the continuity of the fiber optics cabling in
the trunk of the vehicle, or whatever he thinks is the most probable
cause of the problem.
Good luck.

If anything is removed from the fiber optic loop and not replaced, a fiber optic jumper must be installed to close the loop. A dealershio should have them.

i finally found out how to get to the diagnostic mode!
i had to go to tape mode then press Mute +1 +3 all together.

anyway im getting this code:
N1112 Lost Communication between D2B master and other device

also when i do the D2B diagnostic, on the result none of the result is checked

does this mean its a problem with the amp/amp connection or could it be the cd changer since its the first thing on the network?

Post #10 explains the cause. Your fiber optic loop is open. There is either a component missing, a faulty component, or a loose or broken connection at one of the components.

Relating one issue

the dead battery and the subsequent failure of the nav unit, have you pulled the unit and removed the fuse and checked it then disconnect it from the harness and rehook it and power it up.It may just need to be woken up.

I replaced my Command unit in my 2000 S500. I have all the various parts, if you need something, let me know. Everything is negotiable. I have picture if you want to see them.

"NO CDC" message could simply mean that one of the components on the loop is out. You can bypass each on to test with a $6.00 Bypass coupler from the dealer. REAL EASY, my 00 s500 had the same thing happen

I had exact same issue in my CLK and it was the Amp, i had to fight with the dealler because he kept telling me you will need a new radio and i was convinced it was the amp. New radio was still giving same issues, not till they replaced the amp everything started working.
