Unauthorized usage of my S500

Is there anyway to find out if unauthorized usage of my car has occurred while my vehicle was in storage ? I know I zeroed out the trip counter and it now shows 178 miles, but i would like to somehow be able to prove that my car was in use while I was out of town. Is this information stored in the on board computer?

Thank you in advance for response.

Isn't the 178 miles proof enough?

I'd just sue everybody in sight and let a judge sort it out. Attorneys are hateful folks until they're doing your dirty work.

I strongly believe that there are some posted threads that are just not worthy of a response.
This is surely one of them

4 wheeled car.
You want to prove unauthorized use to whom is the question? To yourself? The trip odometer should suffice. To law enforcement? That's a different thing. Basically we're talking 10851(a)VC (CA vehicle code). Is that what you're going for?

Thank you for your response "The Godfather", that is exactly the information I was looking for.. I am aware that the 178 miles answers the question, but the answer is not that the car was used but by whom, and being able to determine who was the attendant at the time of the unauthorized use will clear the matter.

I wonder if Teleaid could tell you where your car has been if you had it activated. you say attendant? like a parking attendant?

I think you'd have a better chance of criminal proceedings than a civil case.

Aside from getting a full inspection, and any resulting repairs covered by the defendant, there aren't really a lot of damages to sue for.

very true. Plus you need a defendant. and an explanation as to why you left them with your keys in the first place which automatically puts your word against theirs AND thus criminal proceedings require a criminal act. Proof of the act, or damages ( still requiring proof ). In most states under 5K for small claims and over 5K for regular court. All I see here is a waste of legal fees and concerns for nothing.

bingo. The mechanicals of the car will easily take 180 miles of hard driving.

Id be more concerned about someone pushing every single button in the car for several hours.

Thank you all for your responses... For any that are interested in an update on the on-goings here it goes: Through an on-going investigation, the garage employee has been fired and charges are pending. We have recently discovered that not only did my S500 fall to the demise of this guy, other high end vehicles from a BMW745, a Jaguar, and even a Bentley had been out for unauthorized joy rides without the knowledge of their perspective owners. As of now the Los Angeles state attorney's office is investigating if other laws had been broken and if any of the vehicles incurred expenses like parking tickets or other infractions while in the possession of the fired employee. Needless to say this investigation is getting hot and heavy and I will update this blog as we move along with the investigation. Hopefully I won't have to find out there was a body in my trunk. Talk to you folks soon.

Wow...in a way it does suck b/c he used your car w/out your consent...on the other hand, be lucky that no damage was done. Good luck with your case and at least that attendant is no longer employed.

Hey Godfather, how's it going? in response to your question, I checked with Teleaid and no luck, in regard to the attendant question, I am in the process of redoing my driveway and in the city where I live you're not allowed to street park from 12AM to 6AM so I had to put our cars in an indoor garage which boasted care and security as one of there marketing points. I'm not that concerned with the additional milage on my car, I'm more concerned about where my car has been while not in my possession. Thanks again for your input.

Hi OliverK... You're absolutely right, I too am not that concerned about the additional milage, but I am concerned with what went on with the car while it was in someone else's possession. I don't need cops coming to my front door for someone else's screwup.
