Sports pkg question
Sorry, MB n00b here... I'm looking into the S500 and... is the body kit the only thing that comes with the "Sport" option? I'm more into comfort than sport, so I don't want stiffer suspension. Do the spring rates change with the sports package or not?

I understand what you mean , but on the W220 SPORT PACKAGE IS A MUST (03-06) suspension all the same!!!! Options!!! it depends on what car you get . I'm very fortunate to find one with almost all the toys !!!

2003 S430 Sport Package
You also get the AMG wheels with the body kit. My 2003 came with 18" staggered set up. I'm not 100% sure but I'd guess the later years (05-06) came with 19's??

Hence the reason its actually called the Sport "Appearance" Package <grin> 17" rims (I believe) 00-02 18" rims (I am positive) 03-06. An interesting fact is that this package was a No-Cost option on the w220's in 05-06. The 4matic option was no-cost also those years.

As the previous contributors noted, the Sport Appearance Package has nothing to do with the suspension you get; but the S-Class has two suspension options: Airmatic and Active Body Control (ABC). Airmatic is pneumatic, and provides a wonderful ride. However, ABC is hydraulic, and has additional computer control to minimize nose dive when stopping, body roll, and the like. Both suspension types have ride settings that can be varied to taste.
A search of the forum with the names of the two types of suspensions will get you more information.
It would be good to inquire as to which suspension type a car you are interested in has.
