Door Trim BROKE. Stealership wants too much.

Hey everyone first time poster. I have been reading for about two months now. The 2003 s55 amg i bought back in january came with the driver side rear handle looking like this. as you can see in the pictures, just the little piece of chrome from the top is missing. other than that the handle is perfecty fine. the stealership wants to reaplace the entire handle for like $600. I was hoping you guys had some insight or suggestion(or even better a part number).

Thanks

Josh

you can try calling another dealership or that dealership parts department and get the part number from them.

Forum moderator RBrenton (sp) can get dealer oem parts for cheap.

not really a fix but a decent cover up at a much cheaper cost.

Thanks for the replies.

yeah i've looked into those but i can't find any for my car. when i enter my model info to the wellstar site, only the inner cup protectors show up. i find it hard to believe that if only the little chrome piece fell off, that the little chrome piece can't be replaced. Thanks though. i am hoping that i find a diagram like people have for the cup holder that show a piece by piece diagram of the door handle assembly.

My dealer also told me that the door handle is a single part and the plastic-chrome trim was not available separately. Try one of these links.

Jengle,

Put your location on your profile. Might help with some replies too.

I would also try the breaker route. You can call Silverstar Recycling outside of Sacramento Ca. Their number is 800.783.4911 or sales@silverstarrecylcing.com

Good luck!
