SRS Help - PLEASE!
I am posting this is a few places to see if I can find anyone that has experience with troubleshooting this problem:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I took my 2000 S430 to a local INDY MB shop and they stuck their StarDiag on it and it came up with this readout (attachment). They cleared the codes but they came right back. They were busy and of course wanted me to come back and drop off the car so they could fix it, but want to try to repair it myself.
First off, SRS refers to air bags AND seat belts, or just air bags???
Are there any troubleshooting tips to narrow down the issue? I know the teleaid controller is under rear seat, and I checked the data connector, and it was on tight ..... but I re-seated it just in case ...
In the event there was a seat belt issue, I blew out the all the seat belt locks that receive the buckle with electrical cleaner and compressed air - No Change.
Now for some advice of the people IN THE KNOW What troubleshooting steps would you do next? I have multi-meters and I am handy so point me in right direction and I will do it.
TIA

ADVANCED Electrical Troubelshooting
I had another command message that may be related as I have been inside the OCP (Overhead Control Panel), about the light sensor .... I cleared that, as I had a wire issue, but wonder IF the SRS has any wiring going up to OCP that I may have disturbed enough to cause the SRS fault.
Since clearing the light sensor problem, I might go have the codes cleared again to see if I cleared the SRS as well. I hear that those don't just "correct themselves" and go away, and that sometimes they need cleared multiple times to get them to clear.
Has anyone heard that before?

Just so that I correctly understand ..... if I were to find a problem, fix it, would the light go off by itself or would it need to be cleared through StarDiag at the dealer?

BTW, if you didn't upgrade your Teleaid to digital, it is no longer functional. Since your code mentions Teleaid, there may be some interaction between it and SRS that's part of your problem. It's not something I would want to attack with a ratchet and a multimeter.

If your car(which most if not all 98 up MB's has an
passenger seat occupancy sensor,Start there.
Check the wire harness at the seat for pinched wires and or frayed wires.
You can replace the sensor itself for about 160bucks.Diy should be similar to W210 pass seat sensor.Sometimes a srs light goes out after several drive cycles, sometimes it needs the fault cleared on the SDS.
If they found that comm fault look at all the wires to the seats and seat belts and PSOS.

Oops
forgot to mention checking the wires to the t aid.
Is there not another shop with an sds that will run a 75 buck diagnostic?
