Car seat in a 2002
Seeing as how my 2002 does not have the latch system in place, im having to use the seat belt for my 5 week olds car seat. What I am running in to is that the seat belt does not lock in place, so the car seat moves around a lot. Any of you guys have idea's on how to secure the seat a little better?

Locking Clip
On your car seat, I don't know the brand, but there is a seatbelt locking "H" shaped hardware to secure the seatbelt. I had Graco and it did come with one to tighten the seatbelt and secure it.

Thanks AdrianX...I checked our car seat and it doesnt seem to have this device. I'll try to read the manual to see if I can purchase it separately.

The proper way to install without LATCH is int he manual. Just pull the seat belt out all the way and when you go to retract it you will note that it ratchets on it way back in and locks into place. Push the carsent down into the seat hard and retract the seat belt as far in as you can in the method described above and you should be all set.
The H shaped device is garbage all you need to do is engage the ratcheting lock of the seatbelt and you will be fine

That is odd. Both my E and S do it (I have not checked my SL).
Try again pull the belt where the shoulder part goes into the roof pillar all the way out 100% to the end of the blt and then slowly feed it back in, it should ratchet in place and lock

You can also purchase a CG-Lock. It attaches to the plastic piece on the seatbelt latch, and you can manually tighten the belt and it retains the tightness.
Runs about $45 or so.

I asked the dealer this morning to be sure.
While I was there I asked if all W220's have the ratcheting middle seatbelt feature for baby seats. The answer was a solid "yes." It's a pain pulling it all the way out, threading it through the seat properly, pusing the seat down like a rabid gorilla, then snapping it into the receiver without tripping the ratchet wheel and losing the lock. I asked the service guy for help which he thought was a silly request. "We are not allowed to touch baby seats for any reason." Makes sense from a liability standpoint, I guess. Once you get it in there....leave it! I bought two more Britax Marathons directly upon leaving the dealer's premises to put in our other cars. There's too big a chance of missing something when swapping it between rides for me to be comfortable with it. $400 more and doing it right one time on all vehicles was worth it for more than one reason. It is an unpleasant job. BTW, get a nice seat cover designed to protect your leather from the ravages of the carseat base. It's well worth the $20.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll probably be switching over the S this weekend to drive it for a week, so I will try all of the suggestions above. Ive already got the seat protector, which was essential to me. So far we have two bases and one car seat, but im sure it will switch over to two car seats eventually.
