185k lol

Ok here is the deal, im looking into gettin a w220 not sure what year yet some got what i need and some dont.

found kinda of a deal on one

2001 mercedes-benz s430
miles: 184k

now i know that is a butt-load of miles...
saw it today really clean in and out serviced at mercedes every oil change and has its second transmission..

my question now is is it worth it?

i just need a new daily but i really want the s-class

btw this would be my first benz.

Yea it's worth it if you can get it for like 6-7 k can't beat a daily driver for that kind of money , also expect some repairs along the line witch is normal

just keep in mind that if you pay $7k, don't be surprised if repairs equal at least the cost of the car over a 3-5 year period, if not more.

If it makes you feel any better there was a S class that was for sale not to long ago with 387000 Miles on it. I saved the pics of it somewhere.

a 220 is a very scary car to own if you cant afford repairs, parts and that car are very expensive and you will be looking at replacing them at those miles. I honestly wouldn't get it. Try finding an 80k car.

Okay.. imagine this..

The earth's equator:

The length of the equator is 24,901 miles... so that means that 2001 S430 has been around the world almost 7.5 times!

At 80k he's going to spend twice as much for the car.......if he gets one for 6-7k and spends 4k in two years thats 10k. Now if he gets one for 15k and still has to spend 4k in two years thats almost 20k. The ride is going to be the same if care was well cared for, 80k or 200k it dont matter. Right now I have a 2000 S430 with 164k and it rides just as good as my friends 2008 S550, even he couldnt believe it.

So I say go for it and get that car.

True..I know that there is gonna be some maintance down the road mechanical not really worried.. its the electrical part..
Plus I know parts for benz are really expensive. but i already have that planned out. I use to work at a autoshop that just sells stuff for german cars and they are OEM parts so i get some good discount with them.
but no worries im still looking for other S-class just incase this one doesnt go thru just want to see what im getting myself into since this would be my first benz.

As long as you have the means to fix it then do it. but if your worried about cost of maintence i would stay away from it. i have spent about 14K after my warrenty to keep my car going. right now i have about 125K miles, and it does not run smooth as my friends with new cars. but hey once you own one you will fall in love with it.

I drove a W220 when I was 15 and had no driver's license and I fell in love with it for years until I bought one.

That's one major milestone.

One can only wonder what parts are still original, specifically the transmission.

I would buy that just because it made it that far. Then get one of those mileage badges for the grill from MB and use it as a beater. I don't think it gets anymore "pimp" than that; having a W220 beater.
