I have a 2006 S500. Every once in while, the stereo turns on, but no sound comes from it. After I leave the car and get back in the sound returns. It has happened only twice since I got the car two months ago with 39000 miles. Going to take it in to the dealer, but does anyone know what this may be?

I have had the same issue with my 06 S500. Happens rarely (3 or 4 times in a year) so it is hard to duplicate. Last time I took the car into the dealer for other work, it coincidently faulted (in a different way) at the "right" time - the dealer techs heard nothing but very loud static from the speakers. Unfortunately, once the car was in the service bay, they could not reproduce the fault nor could they find any error codes. SO, they shrugged and said let us know if it happens again. It hasn't . . . yet.

 

Yep same thing happens to me. I usually eject all the cds and turn the car off with the unit off and then it resets itself. Definitely strange
