Excuse me for saying this but I must say that you are some peice of work for a technician to make that statement and your shop must be the envy of New Jersey.

It seems to me that anyone who has to change bulbs at such frequency sooner or later a light ( no pun intended ) would go off in their heads...

they used to claim this was normal with the 210 as well, but I haven't had one light burn out in over three years of 210/220 ownership.

My driver's side blinker bulb in the headlight is out and I see now way of reaching down there with your hand to pull it out... and you can't pull the headlight out without taking the bumper off.. so what do I do?

I might suggest hooking a Digital Voltmeter to the Cig. Lighter plug and monitor the charging voltage as you drive..If it is exceeding 15 volts DC there is problem with voltage regulator.. 13.8 to 14.2 is quite normal. I made a adapter to plug my voltmeter into the cig lighter plug..

Later 220s have a voltage monitor screen on the cluster. Enter the maintenance mode (turn the key one click, make sure the cluster display is in the odometer mode, press the R button three times). Start the car and use the steering wheel button to page throught the maintenance menu until you see the voltage readout.

For the W220 and W215:

Make sure your MFD is displaying the MILES screen.

Turn Key to OFF

Turn Key to ON

Press the R button (right side of cluster) three times while the SRS light is on:

If you pressed the reset button 3 times while the SRS light is on and you were on the MILES screen, your display will display your voltage:

You can scroll through the various screens using the page up / page down controls on the left side of the steering wheel:

You'll see the car model, engine type, oil level (when running), software versions, VIN # and a bunch of other information:

This is from the diagnostics menu on the Climatronic unit...

To activate this menu, PRESS and HOLD the REST button for 5 seconds (or until you see NR.00: ......)

You can navigate through the almost 99 menus using the driver's side temperature control (up/down)...

These are the ones that I was able to figure out... I skipped many of them because I simply have no idea what they are showing...

Current Cabin Temperature:

Outside Temperature:

Coolant Temperature:

Current Engine RPM:

Current Speed (updates INSTANTLY (unlike the MFD which has a delay)):

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These were all in German:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is possibly some kind of torque? Measured in Nm...

This is probably power related, measured in Ma...

Oxygen you don't have to remove the bumper to take the lights out as the dealer wants you to believe. Lift your hood and you will see where the lights are bolted in. At the bottom look toward middle where grill would be if hood was closed. Unscrew then pull up enough to get light out and you can do whatever you need. Good luck
