Rear windows stop closing occasionally

2005 S500 4matic w/60K - When I one-touch the rear windows up one or both of them occasionally stop halfway up. I have observed the windows abruptly stop and back off about ½ inch when they roughly hit the halfway point. It appears to me that the window ‘thinks’ it is hitting something such as someone’s arm, however when this happens there is nothing in the window. I tried lubricating the windows with water which seems to help for a little while. Is it possible that the sensor that detects an obstruction has become overly sensitive or that something has changed in the window assembly creating too much friction? Comments appreciated. -Rick

See http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...st2216730.html and give the window reset procedure a try.

Seems to have worked like a charm. I'll post again if otherwise. Thank you!

Well, it didn't work at all. I have since had the problem with both rear windows and once with the passenger side front window. The windows go exactly half way up, then they stop and back up 1". This "behavior" is to be expected when a window hits an obstruction, but there is nothing blocking the glass. It seems to happen the first time I raise the windows after the car sits, then they are OK until I shut the car down for a while. Guess I'll see how good my extended Factory warranty is.
