Steering Wheel/Airbag Removal

Please see attached pic of airbag connector on the back of 2000 S500 airbag. Want to change/upgrade the wheel, not sure how to remove this connector without causing damage to airbag or making SRS light come on. Does the connector just pull straight out, or to the left or right, or pry out? The other connector for the radio buttons etc. looks more straightforward, but this connector is unusual. What about the connector on the column instead of the wheel? It is so recessed it's hard to get to. Does battery need to be disconnected, or just keep the ignition key off? Any help appreciated, thanks!

Pull the yellow tab on both sides (evenly) as close to the airbag as you can. It should come off with minor effort. If you are uncomfortable with this, take it to the dealer. You should only be looking at about 1/2-1hr of labor.
