2006 S600 0R S65

Fellas I'm looking to replace my S500 daily driver with either an S600 or S65.
I'm looking at 06's. .................thoughts. What should the retail difference be on these 2 cars if they are both well equipped and under 30k for miles?

Depends. 600 is smooth, quiet, and deceptively fast. The s65 has more *****, more torque, and is more brash. both are luxurious and very nice, it just depends on how much power and sound you need.

Probably about a $10-12k difference in retail price.

S65s are hard as hell to find well equipped (i've hardly ever seen one with parktronic, distronic, keyless go, etc.

Market prices vary wildly on quality, location, etc.

As you pointed out, markets do vary, around Pittsburgh and even on EBAY our above difference is closer to 30K my friend. I would have bought a S65 in a heartbeat if it was only a 10K diff. Just food for thought.

See yeah

PS: I would still sell my S600 if you can find me a S65 for only 10K diff

Thanks for the feedback. So what are the current selling prices on 06 S65'S?
I'm not talking what they are sitting on lots for but real true buy numbers. I know a buddy of mine picked up a nice low mile car in January S65 for hi 50's. I'm guessing 48-53kk is a real purchase price?
Thanks in advance

That actually is a good area, most though are in mid 50s to high 50s from what I've seen, even low 60s depending on mileage.

2005 S600 (Silver w/ AMG package)
Either on is awesome. I only saw 3 decent deals on the S600 in a year and most were 200 miles away (I'm in Atlanta). S65 is probably even harder to find. I got the 600 and can't imagine a better car. To be fair, I've never driven the 65 though. How much faster could anyone need to go than this?!? Either one will be sweet I think.

I say get the 600 and upgrade the brakes and ECU/TCU. The S65 is a better car but marginal gain for a lot more money. I think drive dynamic seats, air circulating seats, and parktronic to be must have options.

I have never driven a S65 either but I also have a hard time imagining a better car.

Get the 65- I was in your exact predicament back in Oct and ended up going with the 65. Biggest differences to me.....obviously the power, the bigger brakes (huge deal to me), the AMG seats, the sport package, the wheels, the AMG seats (another big plus) and the 220mph gauge cluster. Like someone mentioned above, mine isn't very well equipped....it came with no sat radio, no distronic and no keyless go, but the 11.50's @122 make up for that

FWIW, I was actually trying to sell my '06 65 about a month ago and had it on Ebay for a week at 54k and "0" interest at that level. It's spotless, has 45k miles on it and is a CPO'd car with another year of MB warranty. That should give you an idea of what to expect. After numerous "I'll give you 35k cash for it today" proposals I decided to keep it......thank god. This thing is way too fun to drive.

I wonder how many cars/owners were shocked when they saw an airplane pull on them? Was the 11.50 on street tires or drag radials? Only thing missing on the S65 is wings, after that it will just pick up some speed, spread it's wings and fly away. If it was an airplane it would definitely be an airline with first class given it's amazing interior.

2007 S600
S65.
It takes the biggest upfront hit so it is the best buy. However, I would opt for the 600 if I had to choose between having keyless start/distronic and not having it. Those two features are just mandatory for me , especially on the W220s and W215s

'94 SL600,'05 SL600,'06 S65,'07 E63,'14 E63S,'09SL600 all sold, ‘15 S65,‘18 E63S,'17 SL65, '17S65Cab
I was looking for an S600 with sport package when I found the S65 well optioned in a rare color combination. I drove it and took it home! It does not have Parktronic, which would be nice to have, Distronic, which I have on my SL600 and do not miss on the S65. It does not have the heated and ventilated rear seats which have never been missed, nor the four place seating which I did not want. It has all the other options (phone, voice control, satellite radio and keyless go.) As an earier post listed there is quite a bit of AMG specific equipment on the S65. In my opinion as an owner it is worth the premium to get the S65.

The later 600s all have ventilated seats and Parktronic. 65s should do too, plus the drive dynamic seats as standard.

and Chuck Norris drives a S65 , Chuck made the right decision, he might be the only one that can keep his car out of a telephone pole, a store or a tree, the last thing I would want next to me is those 2 above driving in those cars in rainy conditions.

i've seen some super stripper s65's with parktronic deletes listed in the netstar printout, so not every 65 has parktronic.
