"SOS" "TeleAid Defective - Visit Workshop" as a Malfunction on 04 S500 Sport
Hey guys,
I've enjoyed my Benz for over a year now but today I got "SOS" "TeleAid Defective - Visit Workshop" error.
I don't have the warranty, so is this something serious or not?
Thanks very much in advance.

No. The Tele-Aid in an '04 W220 is an analog system, and all analog cellular communications in the U.S. were taken down during the past year.
You could upgrade it to a digital system for around $900, if you want it - but of course you must also subscribe to the service for around $250 annually.
In your particular car, the Tele-Aid and cell phone electronics were in the same box - a CP211 PSE. Does your cell phone still work (if you had one - likely working with a V60 Bluetooth puck, or else a V60 or V600 plug-in)?

Thanks Skylaw, however I don't want to subscribe at all so how do I diactivate this services so I don't have "malfunction"? My stereo doesn't work because of it either.

Looks like I gotta take it to a dealer who mentioned the word "ring"
Basically, I get a TeleAid SOS error and my SRS light is on, stereo, nav, etc.. doesn't work either.
I am officially scrared!

96 and 08 911 turbos
The guy is talking about the can-bus ring. If one element fails, the rest of the stuff won't work because the signal won't transfer through the failed component.
Probably only one of the items listed is broken. Either way though, it won't come cheap.

ok, an update!
My mechanic replaced two fuses today and both SRS and TeleAid errors went away. One fuse was under the steering column, the other was under the back seat. This is so strange as I didn't mess with electrical system at all including disconnecting the battery before the malfunction (s).
$130, all fixed, weird weird but glad it's fixed.
He's been fixing german rides for 20 years and claims he never saw this one.
Hope no other problems!
Here is another one, my front passenger's door stopped closing with air so after I got SRS and TeleAid error out of the frustration I disconnected the battery and the after which the door closes fine.
Weird week!

The computer in the car knows when you are out of warrenty. It usually will replace that messgae with "SOS" "TeleAid Defective - Visit your bank and bring lots of money to our Workshop".

You can use whatever valve stem caps you want. I use metal ones, and my TPMS works fine. Green valve caps, added at tire stores, usually mean you have a nitrogen fill in your tires.
