sunroof prob
the other day i was closing my sunroof and i herd a wierd noise wile it was closing ... after that it didnt close right , i push the button for it to close and it would close and them pop up father then usual, then when i hit the button to slide it back it would not open as much as usual. its almost like it jumpeda couple teeth ahead , when i hold th ebutton to close it myself where i think it should stop the car reads sunroof open when i shut it off but when i close it automatically it says its closed when its actually poped open ...i pulled the motor out hit the button to open it all the way then i slide the sunroof back with out the motor in and reinstalled the motor now the sunroof works fin to open and close but when i go tilt it up again it seems to jump teeth and does the same thing tilts up instead of close and doesnt open all the way ...any ideas

You may in fact have a gearing problem, but first, try the reset procedure at https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ml#post3682080. Use the first reset for the sunroof - Note that this is a different procedure from the global synchronization feature of auto-opening that is described later.

i tried the reset it doesnt work because the sunroof will not open all the way and when i hold the button foward it opens to much

had the same problem like yours. and just repaired mine. you dont need a new motor since it's still running... seems like you have damaged teeth on the cable on one side of the sunroof. parts are cheap.. around 45/each. but it's a good idea to replace both... you might need the new lifting arm if the yellow sleeves are broken. labor is expensive to replace them... some shops will say you need to remove the whole roof headliner to get to them.. but you dont. but if you can remove the motor you can probable replace the cables yourself too..you can access the cables by removing the sliding headliner, then the glass roof. in order to pull out the cables, you need to loosed the sunroof motor so it's not engage with the cables... hope this help..

so you say i need to replace the cables , where are they located i took the motor out and slide the sunroof by hand and i could see all the teeth none looked damaged
