Tranny Leak Help?
just had tranny fluid changed to mb spec tranny fluid from dealer 15qt complete flush 2k miles ago.
I just went in for a oil change today and my mechanic pointed out that my tranny was leaking from the top of the transmission. He told me that the trannys have some sort of blowoff valve at the top when it overheats so it doesnt fry the gears. Is that true?
he said because i drive the car hard thats why it happens. Im getting a feeling that somehting is clogged in my tranny or something else... so does anyone have any insight.
next coming up monday morning my perofmance shop is putting in a transmission cooler rigth in front of the radiator since the stock one is small what you guys think?

Alldata, MB has recently revised their opinion on the 722.6 tranny fluid. It now recommends fluid changes every 60k I believe on non-amg models.
1. There is typically a vent for the tranny, but you'd have to get the fluid VERY hot for that to happen.
2. I wouldn't mess around with an additional oil cooler.
3. Now this is just my opinion, but maybe you need a different kind of car. Clearly you enjoy "driving hard", which I've discovered to be burnouts, 100+mph at every opportunity, and generally going WOT every chance you get.
Why don't you buy a performance car as opposed to trying to beat the everloving **** out of a wonderful mercedes sedan?

Reason why not is because i have a 5.5 engine in my garage that im building up. I got it for 3 grand and it only got 30k on it mint condition. That y im thinking to do the cooler for the tranny.

I was thinking the same thing that they overfilled it. So 15 qts is too much for a full flush?
Plus is overfilling the tranny bad? And will it eventually get to normal?
Also is there a tranny sensor that tells me if theresnot enough fluid?

So how many qts does the tranny need?
If i dnt have enough oil will it tell me?
Btw i had my mechanic put the long tranny dipstick to check the oil and it came back good maybe.
Crap now that i think about it they added 4 qts to bottom of trans pan when they added new gasket and filter plus 15qts when they used the system flush machine
