Wheel opinions

These are S600 standard wheels that are 18" for 2003 MY and weigh only 21 lbs vs. 29 for the Sport AMG wheels. They are highly polished.
Have you seen many S class cars with these and how do they look?

I have always thought this wheel design was ugly.

Don't count on MB for designing wheels. They suck at it.

I just bought an '01 S430 and they tried to take off my 19" AMG wheels and sub. the S600 wheels, to which I vetoed.
I think the French aka Iraqis would say "de rigeur" which I think means butt ugly.

i saw them on a non 2003 .. i think it was a 2002 S600.. i personally liked it.. only because it sets it apart from a regular S430/500.. the 55 though has its own wheel..

the car itself and the "S600" logo on the back of the car makes the wheels look nice. i saw a white S600 once, this sounds weird but i think the car all together looks nice, but i admit the wheels alone look ugly.

They will immediately bend, if we are talking about potholes. If you happen to buy 255 tires, they may absorb some road holes.

S600 wheels

I like the looks of them on a silver car. The 2002 S600 wheels are 17", the 2003 are 18". Everyone around here has the 18" AMG's. I want something different, but still need to be client freindly (not pimpin').
Will 18" wheels with 245/45's be at risk for potholes?
Thanks

Actually I like that wheel design very much. Since the first 220 S600 came out with those, I had wished they made them in sizes 18 as well as stagered. I can say that those wheels are the only factor that would make me regret a sport package on the S (which, to me, is a must, as it makes the car more "complete")

They amke them in 18 by 8 for the 2003 S600, but not staggered. I don't know if you can put a wider tire on the rear with those wheels. Factory is 245/45 all around.

2004 S 600
I've had my 2001 S600 since August 2000 and I really like the look of the 17" stock wheels. Have the new 2004 S600 coming in August and I look forward to same look in 18". I'll need 18" since I'm doing a Renntech upfit back to Maybach spec of 550HP and 663 ft lb of Torque.

S600

Mercmaniac, that sounds great. I have a freind with a black 2003 S600 Sport that is looking into the Renntech setup.
I am trying to locate a set of the 2003 18" wheels. Will probably put Bridgestone S03's on them.

The 600 wheels are staggered in Europe (265 rears). IN the US, they are not offered, because they would render the Sport Package obsolete.

Staggered wheels

Benznut, do you know what width wheels they are putting on the back with the 265 tires? I wonder if I could put 265's on the back with the 18 by 8 wheels.
Thanks

I already ordered the 8x18's all around. Oh well, it will still look good with 245/45's, handle better and allow me to rotate them.
Are the 2004 US cars with these wheels automatically staggered?

2004 S 600
No, 2004 still come with same size wheels all round. Have to order Euro version of S600 wheels to get staggered.
