That article is very confusing. That sketch of the mercedes S class is totally wrong. No S class will ever be that low and short looking. That sketch looks like it will be a future coupe of some sort, but no S! Also, 2004 is not that far away. That would mean that the new body would be on the lots by Fall of this year. I question the credibility of this story. But in any event, Lexus does suck MB's ****.

That sketch was a design concept of the current S-class. I saw a few design concept sketches on the internet and that was one of them that look most like the current S-class. Of course, since it was a design concept, it will not look like the real car.
