Trunk Handle

My trunk handle pops out AFTER I close the trunk...it then retracts about 30 to 60 sec later. Seems like it is working opposite as it should. Shouldn't the handle pop out as soon as I open the trunk, then retract when it is closed? Any advice is appreciated...

Definitely not working right. My previous S500 didn't have the electronic trunk closer and as soon as the trunk was opened, the handle popped out and retracted about 30 seconds after the trunk was closed.

ideally it should but ot many actally do that.

I have the same problem.I actually changed the handle assy which included the vacuum reservior and associated parts and when i out it back it was the same crap. 150 bucks for an experiment....

As long as it goes back in and there are no leaks, i don't care about that thing.
its kind of a waste of money and i never use it anyway.

Maybe some sensor is bad? Anyone know what switches and sensors are in the latch? I am not afraid to take it all apart...

I had this exact problem... it was only fixed by having it replaced at the dealer.
