Great instructions xexpo. I did the job today and the instructions were right on the nose. I appreciate it.

It's an awful job. Well done.

You might need to replace the forward flex disk after raising the engine that high

That's on the list for next weekend. I debated doing it all in one fell swoop, but the motor mounts took up the greater portion of the day. It went so well, I figured I would bask in that glory before moving on to the next project.

does w220 use that external torx nut under the mount where it connects to the subframe?

i think of V engings , mounts are easier to do than say a straight 5 inline

No. The issue with the W220 is the top bolt on the engine mount, it is tough to get to. But raising the engine first makes it easier.

The top bolt doesn't require that weird tool, I can just get to it with a long box wrench... go in from the bottom, remove the exhaust and you have access. Lift is pretty much required here.

I had no issue reaching the top bolt, but getting the new engine mount slotted in correctly that it doesn't turn, while simultaneously tightening the bolt requires some craft.
IMO that's the reason WIS suggests the removal of the engine mount bracket

Hey Fried Chicken! I still haven't gotten to that flex plate after installing the motor mounts, but I did do the transmission mount. I'm getting an odd sound (like engine pinging) at low speeds, through the first 2 gears and it seems to go away. Could the flex plate be the cause of this sound? I wouldn't think so, but I am a novice. I don't know if the sound was there before doing the motor mounts, but if it was, I never noticed it.

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks!
