I saw that from othe source stated that it be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year. Let's wait until Sptember to be certain. Anyway it looks reasonable to push the bar up, since many competitors already offer 6 speed automatic.

Autospies may not say correct stuff, but the other sources it takes info from do. There is a forum in the Germacarfans that is discussing the same.
After all, it is only logicall, now that Mercedes also finally has an engine that is too powerful for its transmission. The newest Amg 65 engine is rated at 612 hp and 1000 N/m, limited electronically. Unlimited, it cranks out 700 hp and 1200 N/m. So the seven speed tranny is in good timing.
There is even talk that it will make it on 2003-2004 S Class. I thought MB would decide to debut it in the new SLR.
By the way, I do not know which engine is going to make it in the SLR, but a 700 hp/-888lb/ft V12TT engine in a 3200-3500 lb car will be a monster that will harrass the cr.p out of Enzo and the new Porsche Carrera GT.

It'll be hard to beat Bugatti
Kudos to MB on trying to outdo themselves but I think it'll be hard to come up with something more impressive than Bugatti's 7-speed transmission with double clutch system.
