Hi folks
Brand new to the SIG here and was browsing through the threads. I do have some very pertinent info on this subject though.
In my misspent youth I worked for one of the largest manufacturers of automotive headlamp systems - research area too! What Ansonnn mentioned is absolutely correct. Headlamps are designed as a complete unit. You cannot take the clear lens of one and replace the ridged ones (fresnel lenses for those interested) of another. These lenses are so unique they are not even designed by the OEM manufacturer Companies but by design firms whose only product is lens design.
Further drivel. If you combine the wrong pair of source and lens/reflector system you will manage to put enough candela in the upper right quadrant of a DOT test target and cause the poor blinded oncoming driver to be immortalized in a crash - hopefully taking out at least one of your hazardous lamps if not both! Sorry, I was just driving to make a point.
Great group here - looking forward to some time on the board
