Which car is a better buy???

I was debating on which car would be a better buy, a 1998-1999 S600 or a 2000 S500. What do you guys think?

1998-1999 S600
or
2000 S500

well i would rather have a 2000 S500.

My father has had many of the big S classes... and the 2000 up is by far the better car... It does not feel near as tank like, and there are so many things standard on the S500 that was not even a option on most of the 98 S 600's

Also if you going to spend that much on a old body style it makes people think you dont have the money to get a new one... When in fact they are about the same...

CL500 and S500
If want a float of a ride than buy the W140. The W220 is just little firmer compared to the W140. I feel that the new Lexus LS430 ride is like the W140.
The W220 has better performance, handling, and braking.

if u want to be an old fashioned type of "big baller" get the S600. i would prefer the S500 because its a whole lot better. The S600 will get more attention probably, but the better car is the S500.

Read his post more carefully. He is talking about the last generation S600 vs the newer gen S500. Two completely different cars, and yes, different shapes.

gup998 was talking about current S500 compared to the rest of the current S-Class lineup.

in these days

Emphesize ont he "in these days" part.

And as for the power part, it had 389 hp (1998 s600) and one wouldn't take that racing unless they were crazy because the 0-60 on that was 6.something seconds, not exactly fast if you race.

I just looked on the model selector of www.mbusa.com and it shows the S500 at 6.1 seconds quarter mile. Almost the same as the previous S600 so power isn't really a matter anymore. Remember 2003 was the first year of the TT engines.
