engine oil level

Can someone explain to me what engine oil level, not when engine on means on the dashboard display?? I just had an oil change and had 9 quarts of Mobil 1 put in.I'm wondering if maybe oil needed to settle after change and might be a half quart low.Would appreciate any input!! Thanks

You can't check it when the engine is on through the display, you need to put the key in the ignition and to the last slot before it turns on.

ok, drive the car until the coolant is at operating temp.

Shut down on flat surface, wait five minutes, turn key to second notch, scroll to oil level.

It is in the dashboard display. Use the menu and up/down buttons. Scroll through with the menu button until you reach the odometer. Then using the up/down buttons scroll to the oil screen, be patient, and wait for it to read you your oil level.

My 2000 S-430 is doing the same thing, tells me to reduce oil level. Had it serviced at MB 3 weeks ago.

MB did a Service B on mine too and over filled the oil, warning came on alerting me to this. Had to take it back and had them remove a quart via suction tube from the dip stick.

Don't use the drain plug under the car, too messy and hard to control how much you drain.
