Question HELP! COMMAND has no sound!

Since yesterday, the Command system in my 2006 Mercedes-Benz S500 hasn't played any sound.

So far I've found:

- Sound doesn't work in all modes
- Navigation is not available (no GPS function at all)

I am able to scroll menus just fine though.

I can't figure out what is the cause of this problem and I've already tried turning the system off and on. Please help because malfunctions can be quite irritating (as some of you, if not all have experienced). Thank you and feedback is appreciated.

GO INTO YOUR TRUNK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IS THE GPS CD UNLOAD AND RELOAD THAT SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM , IF NOT ITS MORE SERIOUS AND COULD BE THE AMP , WHICH YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLACE

Are you saying my amp would cause my navigation problem? My navigation doesn't work at all. It can't even tell me what street I'm on in the instrument panel.

Update: Weird, my navigation was able to calculate today.

It sounds like you have some sort of failure of the MOST ring. If any component fails on the ring, you will loose everything, ie: if your amp takes down the ring, you will loose navi. The navi data gets from the navi processor in the trunk to the command via the MOST fiber optic network.

Also with problems on the MOST ring it is possible to have erratic operation of all command functions.

I'm guessing MOST stands for something? Sorry if I'm a bit "noobish".

Media Oriented System Transport, it's the name of the fiber optic network. All the telematics components are connected in series via this network, hence the name MOST ring.

Have you got an idea of the cost of replacing the MOST ring at the dealership?

The MOST ring refers to the network, not one component. If the amp is your problem I don't
see more than 1.5 hrs labor to replace the amp not including diag, but that is just a guess if the amp is your problem. If you are not familiar with the system take it to a reliable dealer or independent and let them diagnose it, so you are not guessing and throwing parts at it.

Thank you. I'll take it to the dealer sometime this weekend or next week when I pick up the new keys and have them check it out.

Sorry I couldn't post earlier; I was busy this week. The problem turned out to be the amplifier. I'm glad I got the extended warranty haha
