2003 S430 Comand Unit/Screen Scratched
Just bought this car last week and decided to clean the interior yesterday. I cleaned the interior instrument panel and the navigation command unit with shop paper towels and windex with ammonia. After I was done wiping off the screen I noticed I had scratches and smudge marks. Also I had some debris come off the screen into my paper towel. Looks like I took off the anti glare coating too. I should of read the owners manual on this car, since they said to clean the screen with only mild dish detergent or laundry detergent along with soft cotton towel. Has anyone had this happen to them and what did you do to fix the screen? Dealer only sells command unit not screen. $$$ Any info you could post here would be very helpful.

I heard there might be a few companies that will sell a refurb or used comand unit. Also there is Ebay.com if you get lucky to find one there. I will look into this screen protector that is supposed to hide the scratches a little and give the screen a cleaner look. Might try that first before I start spending all kinds of money using these companies that have the used/refurb comand units. Hope I will hear from more members that might have some options for me concerning this matter. Thanks

ssakellis,
I replied to you on BenzWorld - http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...cratched.html; If you had looked at the links carefully you'd have seen that MBDoctor sells replacement LCD screens, not just complete units. http://mbdoctor.com/item-LCD-SCREEN-DISPLAY-67.html
Anyway, let us know how the protective screen idea works out.
