Heating problems

Hey folks...need some advice here. 2000 S430 - heat works sometimes, and at other times it stops working. I turn the fan up and can hear it blowing, but nothing actually comes out through the vents.

Help needed!

You guys have had a lot of snow in the Northeast. Be sure your A/C intake wells in front of the windshield is not full of water, ice, or snow!!! See https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...ins-clean.html for one of many writeups on this. If this is the problem, get the water out before it causes damage to your SAM units. $$$$$

I would suspect a duovalve problem if the symptom was only loss of heat - but you could also have a problem with the actuators positioning the flaps that direct air around the system. For duovalve, see https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...rol-valve.html.

You can do some troubleshooting using the A/C control readouts - see posts 11 and 13 at https://mbworld.org/forums/s-class-w...-problems.html - you won't need the missing photos. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...control-o.html covers the same topic, but is easier to use.

I don't have any bookmarks for troubleshooting the flap actuators.
