Squeaky belt when cold starting

The temperature has been in the high 30's each night this week. I have noticed my belt or one of the pulleys is squeaking. It does this until the car warms up. Any suggestions on a fix?

its not uncommon at startup if it goes away. Try some belt dressing.

I've read mixed reviews of belt dressings on other sites. Isn't that a temporary fix that leads to a messy engine compartment? Is there a particular brand that you have used or recommend?
Thx

yes its a temporary fix. and yes the dressing can fly around especially if you apply too much...

youll eventually need a new belt if its glazed.

If its only happening at startup and then quickly going away its not the tensioner. The belt probably just has moisture on it.

if it happens all the time then it may be the tensioner.

It happens all the way up to operating temp. Once at 80 for a minute or two it quits

Check the cooling fan. It's driven by a belt with the motor in the upper corner. Mine makes some noise when cold and the fan is running.

I had a similar problem with squeaking on a cold start, went away after 45 seconds. Dealer replaced the belt tensioner and belt, under warranty.

Looking...
You have to have the belt replaced. Happened to me. Loud annoying, embarassing sound. It's like $70 for everything at any Tire/Service shop or Mercedes. It will 100% fix the problem.
