That's a shame. Valley's Mercedes folks used to be pretty good (a bit weak in telematics when I was in Baltimore). They had some real jerks as service writers in their Audi section.

I cannot believe they wouldn't "look at" the car because it is "too old." Older Benzes need service too. Perhaps you mean they wouldn't proceed under the settlement terms of the reed valve lawsuit because of the 107,000 miles and the fact that it is a '00 (the lawsuit, for inexplicable reasons, dealt only with '01 through '06 models). If that's the case, I'd elevate to the area and regional reps for Mercedes, especially because of leaving the car exposed during downpours when it was already in for the famous reed valve/soaked SAM problem.

Sorry to revive a subject more than a year old but...WOW i finally realize what is going on. I just bought my cl500 from MB of Stockton. I wasn't able to drive up to stockton, CA as I live in san diego, CA but I got a DEAL on the care for $15K 2003 cl500 with 52k miles clean title and serviced regularly at that same dealership, i couldn't pass it up. The stealership rep reassured me the car was fine. I don't think they expected it to rain in southern CA. Well when i bought the car 3 days ago it rained and as soon as it was delivered off the truck rig i got the error "STOP LAMP - VISIT WORKSHOP!" those of you that know southern CA the rain stopped and once my car dried and sat in the sun the next day the error was gone. So maybe the drain a clogged and the rear SAM didn't get completely wet and just got some moisture. HOWEVER, i also noticed the the trunk "rain gutter" or channel has some leak too and it was dripping very lightly near the PSE and the other side near the battery. Does anyone have any recommendations? How much would the stealership charge to redo the trunk rain channel and clean the drain? AND supposedly the service A was just done but i guess they didn't do the recommended drain check. I never expect this from a MB dealership but i called them back the same day i got the car. It's been 3 days and the douches haven't called me back yet. Ive left 3 messages so far for the guy that sold me the car. ANY input would help

The only drain covered by the class action is under the hood. I have a cl500 with rear drain problems too- shorted out my Bose amp. Until we start our own class action mb will do nothing

what did you do about the rear drain issue? Im guessing my "STOP LAMP - VISIT WORKSHOP!" error is being caused by some moisture or starting to flood of the passenger SAM. I don't know what I'm going to do about the rear dripping. I was thinking of just sealing the whole side lol but that would be a bit dramatic. Be thankful it was just a short not he amp. i noticed the PSE right there too that shorting would've been like $1500-$1800 from what i hear. I am going to immediately take out the SAM on the passenger side tomorrow and check for moisture. Is it hard to take out? What a way to start my first benz ownership fml

No

My pse is toast too. May need to file an insurance claim

Someone post in the cl 215 forum asking how to keep the rear drain clear - you don't want to seal it you want the drain hole it open and clear

what do you mean keep the rear drain clear? What I'm talking about is the when i open the trunk the sides where the plastic is. It seems like that rain channel that makes the water run down are leaking and the clips are terrible. I'm going to try and reseal the sides.

Take your car to the dealer for the recall.

If your car isn't part of the recall , such as year 2000 models , they still have the same problem. Open your hood and look for the large waffle grill under the windshield wipers on the right side of the compartment . Shine a flashlight into that plastic box and you will see a drain hole at the bottom. Use a chopstick or other thin long tool to poke at the hole and ream it out to clear out any debris
