replaced crank sensor still not starting?

Long story short.

When giving it gas the pedal would not respond all of the time:

1. replaced gas pedal
Car ran for 1 day then wouldn't start

Seemed that I had an electrical problem because all of the lights were flickering and car would not start

Drain in front of windshield clogged some water soaked into the carpet of the car.

2. Replaced Fuse box under passenger rear seat
Car ran for 1 day..wouldn't start the next morning..also the passenger door electronics not working.

3. Replaced Crank Sensor
Car ran for 1 day... car would not start again

4. Thought maybe bad part, replaced sensor again this morning....won't start. Car is getting gas and turns over just fine. No codes are showing any problems.

Any help would be great, I am stuck!

Check the fuel pressure. Fuel filter could be clogged/dirty and/or fuel pump could be toast.

When replacing fuel pump, make sure you replace relay also.

checked fuel pressure

Thanks for the advise!

Fuel pressure was good. Should I still check the fuel filters?

Have you done a scan for trouble codes? I would do that before buying parts.

no trouble codes.

All parts that have been replaced have been from the trouble codes. That is why we are stumped......no codes.

50psi? If you're getting good pressure, no sense in checking the filters.

Bad fuel filter or fuel pump won't throw a code.

It sounds like the water is got something jacked up. You should dry everything out. Rip carpet out, and ENSURE everything is dry.

Sounds like a mess. I hope you can figure it out!

2000 S500, looks like it is the same problem that I am having. I am going to look into this more.

I did not know about the pending class action that you sent over.

Thank you so much!!!!

I will let you know what I find.

Your car is a year early but I would definitely talk to the attorneys handling the case for their input. Go to FAQ on the site I provided and then click on item 12 for contact info.

You said you replaced the fuse box.. but did you replace the rear SAM also? (the control unit attached to the rear fuse box) Sounds like you missed something that was also damaged by water and it's still affecting things, obviously..

Fuel pressure dropped. I checked the fuel filters and replaced.

Car started and shut off again..........Fuel tank shows 3/4 tank.

Put Gas in.............car runs great!

Bad fuel gadge car was out of gas.....how embarrassing!

Thanks for all of your help!

There you go! Gotta love these fuel filters. Now as a follow-up, your fuel PUMP... are you sure you're getting enough fuel psi from it? If fuel filter was dirty, some of the crap could have gone to the pump.

Just to make you more paranoid.

you said there was water under the carpets. Sounds to me the water got into the rear SAM, under the back seat, and reset it. the fuel gauge showing 3/4 tank is a dead giveaway. the SAM has to be recoded for the right fuel sender, or if its damaged, needs to be replaced and still recoded.

I replaced the SAM sensor. I will reset as well.
I also replaced the cluster during the down time that I had the car sitting. It was actually rebuilt. If I find that the fuel is still showing 3/4 tank once I reset the SAM do you think that I might need the cluster sent back in again?

On a side note my passenger side door functions stopped working as well. Would this have anything to do with the SAM sensor?

Thanks again, you guys have been a great help!

you did not have to rebuild the cluster, the rear SAM module has to be recoded for the appropriate fuel level sender. if the SAM is toast, then it needs to be replaced and recoded as well.
