Videos: RENNtech S600 at Sacto Dragstrip
I'm posting 'em as I finish 'em. We got about 20 runs (!!) last night, and I'll pick the few that turned out best. The first, of course, involves a Mustang ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Also, here was my best run of the evening:

Sacto run #2 (win some, lose some)
I should note here that this is a stock 2003 Benz S600 with the RENNtech ECU upgrade and Potenza S-02A 275/40-18 rear tires. That's it -- no other mods, no lightening, stock air filters in place, full tank of gas, etc.

This was early in the evening, before I had figured out how to get the Benz launched properly. Still, even my best run wouldn't have been enough against the snake. Guess I'll have to bring the yellow car

Awesome runs!!!! Could you tell a big difference with the RennTech upgrade?? How do you best launch....which method??
What other stock cars (non-mod) do the 1/4 mile times you have achieved??
Again, great runs Treynor...can wait til I get my new 600 and run up at Atlanta Raceway!!

My wife Liz got into the action too. This was her first time on the dragstrip, but she got the launch figured out in a hurry...

Looks as though you will be holding the camera from now on. (hehe)

Heh. Fortunately, Liz doesn't have the 'bug' quite as bad as I do, so I think I'll still get a few passes in.
The RENNtech upgrade added a -bunch- of power starting in the upper midrange. I haven't put it on the dyno yet, but SOTP I'd say it is 20% faster in the midrange and 10% stronger on the top end. At the 'strip it has a fair amount of trouble hooking up, but the basic technique is a short burnout, then releasing the brake and nailing the throttle without brake-boosting. If the turbos spool before you release the brake, it just spins off the line.

Awesome times!!!! Treynor, you have just started the 11 second Mercedes Benz Club!!! Once again RENNtech exceeds expectations! Can't wait to see the dyno results, should be very impressive! Now I'm going to have to do my exhaust work and shift point changes to try to get into the 11 second club. By the way, is this track NHRA sanctioned? It doesn't appear on the time slips so I assume it isn't. That explains why they let you keep running. NHRA rules demand approved roll cage and Nomex jacket for sub 12 second cars.
Keep us posted on the awesome "S". Love the videos!

> Now how do you put a roll cage in a S600?
You don't.
Sacramento is an NHRA track, but they let the occasional high-11 pass slide if you're not running loose. The Benz is straight and stable as an arrow, so they're not particularly concerned about it.
Now if I start running 11.7s, there could be a problem...

Heh. Believe me, I know...
