How to pick the right mags?
Hi, I started looking for a set of mags for my 2003 S-500 4matic. Ideally I would like to find used ones close to where I live, in Toronto.
17" mags should be ok for me. I dont need anything fancy.
However the user manual lists some specific numbers (wheel specs) that are a bit confusing. Should I look specifically for an exact match, or is there some room allowed?
I really wanna make sure that they will fit properly.

Are you looking for custom wheels or Original Mercedes wheels?
Any wheel shop can help you find good custom wheels. If they dont guarantee fitment, do not buy from them.

I guess that I will go with the original ones. I saw a few used ones on craiglist, but most of them didn't come from an S-Class. Hence the confusion about whether they will fit mine or not.

Thats the point I was trying to make, dont buy rims online from someone else's car if you are worried about fitment....you will likely get the WRONG ones unless they come from another 4matic.
If you are buying from Craigslist, buy ONLY LOCALLY and meet at the wheel shop so they can install them right there...that way if they dont fit, you dont buy.
You cant even guarantee Mercedes rims that fit one w220 will fit properly on yours.
I had a similar situation when putting non -600 rims on a 600. The 600 had a larger brake caliper and the (Mercedes OEM) wheels did not fit and hit the brake caliper because they werent from a 600.
Buying without test-fitting in PERSON , or from an online company who wont guarantee fitment and free returns, is just asking for problems

His mama. Traded y0 mama in because she was squeaking.
And once you figure out the wheels fit (clear brake calipers, correct bolt pattern, etc), you have to make sure you've got the proper offset, lest you want to throw your suspension geometry out of whack.
And they are called wheels, (or RIMz, as some... younger people like to refer to them), and not "Mags".

Would you recommend having two sets of RIMz, one for the summer and another for the winter? Or simply one set, with two sets of tires?
