Need help with Key FOB

Hey recently my Key fob stopped working from a distance, i replaced the batteries, but still did not help. The only way to unlock my doors is two put the key next to the senson on the door then it works. Anything over 3 inches from the sensor it wont work.

Any ideas what this could be?

If it works up to 3 inches then the key fob circuitry is fine. What about your second key, does it have the same problem? If both keys have the same problem then it is not the key fob and something is wrong with the receiving unit. Also, try unlocking from passenger side of the car to isolate the problem further.

Good luck!

I dont have a second key, but what would should i look for by unlocking the passenger side door lock? either side i have to put the key right next to the sensor to unlock the car.

Have you heard of this problem before?

Yes and the cause was a weak battery. If you have the same problem from both sides, I would try new batteries since signal seems weak. It is possible that the new battery you installed was old.

If the batteries dont fix the issue, it may be a faulty antenna amp. How is the radio reception? Did you recently have tint put on?

my radio recp. is horrible. i have tint but i got the tint about 5 years ago. My radio recipt started to get bad about 1 year ago and my key fob went to hell about a month ago.

my door sensors are white, like it is corroded or something on it. I was thinking of trying to clean it, but not sure what to use.

More than likely the antenna amp located up in the rear upper area of the rear glass under the headliner. It is an antenna for both the radio and remote functions (radio frequency portions). The door sensors (Infa Red) are used for close proximity and mainly for summer open/close feature. If ya need help let me know.
