Power booster for W220

Hi,

I would like to install power booster to my 2002 model S600.

I know of Sprint Booster and Piecha Power Converter.
Has anyone tried these units and if yes, than I will appreciate if you can leave some feadback for me.

Which one should I choose, and is there any other brands in the market for the same purpose

Thanks
Akin

Mercedes
get the sprint booster

also note these do not create any actual power gain... what it does is trick the electronic throttle

... so you step on the throttle lightly and the car feels much more powerful, but in actuality you could achieve the same feel by flooring the throttle yourself

Thumbs down

Thanks

That is in deed what I am looking for. I am not very happy with the cars downshift as I step on the throttle. Now I need to step on the accelerator hard to downshift. But I would like the car to downshift much earlier as I step on the accelerator.

What do you think...

And by the way... Are you familier with the "superchips" which is a re-programmed ECU chip. Their web site is http://www.superchips.co.uk/
I know this is different than the sprint booster which only modifies the drive-by-wire commands.

Did you hear about anyone who installed such chips..

Thanks again

You might be dealing with "Adaptive Shifting" in which the throttle response might be slow if you have been driving conservatively. As "tusabes" said above, you can achieve the same thing as a Sprint Booster, but just adjusting your gas pedal application.

Thanks Corsa,

I have heard about adtive shifing. In fact, once after the car got out from the service, I have been told to manually shift the gears watching the RPM. The first to second gear shift was done at 300 rpm as the service suggested. Do you think I should have the service reset the setings and do the same manual shifting at other rpms. But then what woul d be the rpm settings be.
Thanks

The manual setting allows you to shift at any RPM you like. For average driving go with mid-range of RPM range, say around 3000, if you need more performance shift right before red line, etc.

There are ways to override the adaptive shift, after driving moderately for a while, the adaptive shifting goes into regular mode, but if you need more performance, flooring the gas pedal wakes it up and goes to max performance, check your manual for more info on this.
